COD4 Tips (So to Speak)

So I'm sure by now everyones pretty bored with COD4. The games been out for about 4 months now, to critical acclaim, and I don't even know if most of you still play it.

As for me, I do. Everyday. IMO, it's the best online shooter since Socom 2. We're talking overall gameplay, clan support, server support, maps, weapons, etc. So I took some time off of my current review to sit down and play with some friends and while I was, I thought about sharing some of my tips for the game. You probably know of most of them, but I'm bored, I'm in a 3AM poker tourny, and I need someone/something to talk to. All of these "tips" are confirmed to work for the Playstation 3, so I'm assuming is the same for the 360. Here goes!

1) Save your Helicopter until after you die - I realize that once you come accustomed to calling it in right away it's hard to stop but it pays off in the long run. You see when you call it in after you die, all of those kills count towards your next kill streak. On close quarter maps, you can easily get yourself another helicopter while your first helicopter is still in flight.

2) Use Extreme Condition - Easily the best perk if your a run-n-gun type like myself, it's even better for those who like to play Domination, Sabotage, and Headquarters. Constant movement is one of the key factors to being a succesfull player online.

3) Use UAV Jammer/Silencer in the same Class - And while your at it, add Extreme Conditioning! This is the ultimate assassin class right here. Works best if your use a P90, works just as well with whatever sub machine gun you love most. I've been using it since day one, and I've held a steady 2.25 K/D ratio. I know the silencer takes some work getting used to, especially if you are used to using one of the many scopes in the game, but being undetectable on a multiplayer map is worth it.

4) Don't depend on Martyrdom - Sure the 1/5 times you get killed close quarters it works, but many other perks in that class are more useful.

5) Snipers; Skip the Deep Breath perk, you don't need it - If you tack on deep impact (I could be wrong, but it's either this or the other shot perk) on almost any sniper rifle, shots/hits from the waist up are one hit kills. Just make sure you stay in scope on your designated area, and hold your breath when you see an enemy. Waiting for one is pointless and a waste of time

...And I just hit the river, doubled up, and lost my train of thought. I'll post more if they come to me as the night moves on or the morning moves closer. Either one.

-Ryan

Yeah I always use the same perk really...

Bandolier (sp)
What ever the extra damage one is
Deep Impact

Sometimes just to tick people off, I will use juggernaut and last stand together with my smg guy...

I'm not much of a run-n-gun guy, mostly because it is too easy. I'm pretty sure deep impact only changes bullet penetration on walls and objects. Considering real bullets do more damage if they stay in the target, I don't see deep impact as making much sense.

I seriously despise martyrdom. Anyone who uses it regularly is a *****. Actually, I pretty much hate all the perks in this game, which is why I don't play. That and it is all run-n-gun, which is too easy.

I use the 90, extreme, uav jam and claymore. I find it effective in all situations as I am a run and gun guy and I like to make sure no one is coming up behind me. word ont he street is the new maps are coming out in April, that will be a relief as I am getting bored with it myself. I am onto other things and COD 3 eld my attention longer than COD 4 has for some reason even though I like palying 4 more. I think it is because there are more games out now then when 3 was out. The one thing this game lacks that I would like to see changed is random spawn spots as I play S&D mostly hardcore and it is to the point where people just launch a stupid 203 across the map.

Camping can be too easy as well. It all depends on the player and their style. To me, there's a lot of strategy involved in COD4, which is why I love it. Whether or not I'm being killed continuously by a run and gunner, there's always a way to kill him or her. Same goes for a camper, which the kill cam makes it too easy to find where that person is stationed at. If that's the case then I just flank them. Select a stealthy class like the poster mentioned. Go around the enemy team and kill them all. Or shank them. Whichever comes to mind.

Anyway I've been meaning to jump in a game of COD4 with you Cain, but haven't gotten the chance to. Hope that changes.

I can finally relate to this thread!

Good tips mugoldeneagle, I'll try the UAV Jammer/Silencer combo, sounds right up my alley, I like to sneak around. We need to play some time, I see you on all the time.

So I've realized that I pretty much stopped posting.

Anyway about the thread.

I despise martyrdom and last stand. I'm not going to lie. When I first started playing I used it. Sure it got me some kills but now I just can't stand it. Last stand is really annoying just because if you put them in last stand and someone from your team walks up takes the head shot...it sucks because it should be your kill.

My thoughts about perks? Well I'm not playing hardcore I have 3 frags, Deep Inpact, and the other one like deep inpact. It makes killing all the people who play with stupid juggernaut (sp) easier to kill. For hardcore I use the same except with UAV jammer.

Alright it's random and junk but that's what I use and I think is helpful.

Now that I'm on the 7th prestige, logged 8 days of game play, and am sub-100k on leaderboards on pretty much everything that matters *cough Accuracy*, I now know what I'm talking about.

Martyrdom: Kiss my ass, that perk can throw itself off a bridge.

Last Stand: Manageable, if not for the automatic tendency to reload after every shot taken, it's annoying but I cope.

Deep Impact: Never found the real use for this.

Steady Aim: I use this with assault and SMGs because, as I've learned, its better to shoot by the hip than aiming up close.

I always roll with Bandolier, makes leveling guns much easier, I find level 32 my changing point and where I do much better on the boards each game.

Stopping power is my one true love.

During SnD, I roll 3 frags to get some unlucky victim, stopping power, and steady aim with either a P90 or MP5.
