I was definitely most surprised by Left 4 Dead 2. I still have very mixed feelings about it, since releasing a full sequel to a popular game so soon to the original's release isn't really Valve's style. But, either way, I'm willing to put my faith in Valve as a developer on the line and give it a chance.

I'd have to agree 100%
I played it and it was fun. Just seems so quick lol...

I'm sorry but it's been barely a year and they already have the sequel ready to go. (Valve...that fast..come on now). Although I guess it's mostly the side effects of it being released that surprised me. What was the number of people in that group against it now? 30k some? I can understand it not being small enough of a thing to be a DLC...but...they could have at least waited longer than they did.
Would have made a lot of people happy at the least..
I was also surprised by Left 4 Dead 2. I would have thought they would announce Half Life Episode 3 before L4D2. Hopefully this won't become a yearly game.
The PS3 motion controller was a shock to me. Didn't see that coming. Even though the testing of it was a little quirky on the demo, i'm excited about the possibility. My wife and I love Kinetic for PS2 and any oppurtunity I have to get her to interact with gaming(that's not a Wii) I get excited about.
The thing that surprised me the MOST was Metroid: Other M. I really didn't see that one. I figured at some point the Microsoft and Sony would create their own motion sensing devices to contend with Wii so not a huge surprise in concept, but it was a surprise in thier execution of the demos.
